Let's Talk About Sex Baby-Salt-n-Pepa

Brad and Angelina. Jackie and John F. Kennedy. Will and Jada Smith.
Of all these famous couples, my favorite by far, is food and sex.
Since the beginning of time food has been considered an aphrodisiac.
Namely, chocolate and seafood.

Here I give you, the gooey duck.
A rare shell fish that looks like a snatch and a penis.
The ocean's very own hermaphrodite.

While the relationship between food and sex may not be scientifically proven, clearly, nature is sending us a message.

HAVE SEX. EAT

As some of my friends can attest, something comes over me when I am diving into a good meal, usually involving lamb. Suddenly, I sound like Tera Patrick, as I chomp away at food. It's disturbing to those around me, but I honestly can't help myself. I dare you to look at a ripe, juicy, and swollen summer peach, split in half, and tell me it doesn't call out you to. Like the biscuits in Alice in Wonderland that say, EAT ME or DRINK ME, certain foods just have that certain quality which shouts, sex appeal. For me, a supple and red strawberry is the Salma Hayek of fruits, its curves are perfect and irresistible. Though our protestant founding fathers and mentalities would like us to deny it, there is just something so sensual about food.

Like sex, food has the ability to infuse us with a feeling of pure pleasure and joy. It gives our bodies sustenance. Moreover, it's a form of intimacy that we can share with others, multiple partners if you will. ;-)

Over the years, many entrepreneurial minded folk have made it rich, designing products geared toward those looking to combine the likely pair (e.g edible panties, whipped cream bikinis, edible lube). I know my friends have spoken on several occasions about marketing a line of sex products that also double as culinary products or vice a versa. Not surprisingly, this relationship has also made its way into our vernacular, hence the term eating pussy.

I mention this because I recently read an article in which two new characters in the the sex and food love saga are introduced, saffron and ginseng. Apparently, both can help you improve sexual function, whatever that means.
My rant is not a case for you to run out and buy saffron, though it is a tasty seasoning. Rather, my point is such, even if it turns out these things are merely a placebo, it is but more evidence that we want food and sex to be related.

Either way, for me, both sex and food are a way to express not just an apetite but love. Sometimes, sharing a meal with a lover is just as soulful and enriching as sharing a bed. Whatever you choose to make of these two things, you can't deny, there is something incredibly sexy about food. With that said, eat up lovers, and let me know how it goes!

  1. i have heard it said, i think it was in a book by Diane Ackerman (A Natural History of the Senses), that food and sex are opposites. With food the first bite is the orgasm.

  2. yes, its true, I think first bites are like first loves, they shape you and nothing else is the same after that.
